SPAPƏYƏQ

Spapəy̓əq by Quelemia Sparrow is a reclamation, site-specific play that will take place on the land called spapəy̓əq which is known now to settlers as Brockton Point in Stanley Park. Many Indigenous and mixed race families, spanning generations, lived in spapəy̓əq. They were forcibly removed from the land and their homes were burned to the ground.

In this immersive remembering we find ourselves in layers of time confronted by the forgotten families of spapəy̓əq.

Currently in development with its site-specific premiere set for 2027-2028. Spapəy̓əq is currently seeking paid residencies (4-6 artists), and looking for donors and organizations interested in supporting the premiere of this work.
